About Me
I'm Laura, a native of Belfast and former inhabitant of Paris (where I worked as a dancer in Disneyland) and London (where I trained to become a teacher, met my husband, and became a mum!).
I was inspired to become a Humanist wedding celebrant for a number of reasons. When Joe and I got married a few years ago, Humanist weddings didn't exist in Northern Ireland. We knew we would feel a bit hypocritical having a religious wedding, but didn’t want a registry office wedding either, where we would only meet our registrar on the day of the ceremony. After completing the legal paperwork at Belfast City Hall, our best friend Andy married us on our beautiful, special, wonderful ‘real’ wedding day at Riverdale Barn, and it was just perfect for us.
We loved being able to write our own ceremony which reflected our values, our journey, our sense of humour, and the things that are important to us. Lots of our family members and friends had roles to play in our ceremony which all added to the fun and memory-making!

It struck me that every couple should have the opportunity to make their wedding ceremony all about them. Every guest should depart your wedding feeling like they know you a little bit better than they did before... and as your wedding celebrant, I can make this magic happen!
After attending my own wedding and enjoying how personal it was, my best friends asked me to marry them in Cyprus. I was delighted and honoured to be their Celebrant, and we had the most fantastic day (and stag night in Ayia Napa!), however due to the abominable marriage laws in Northern Ireland, their marriage was not legally recognised here.
It is of great importance to me to be part of a movement which campaigns for fairness and equality for all human beings, and works towards a kinder, more rational society. By having a Humanist wedding ceremony not only will you have the bespoke and unique ceremony you deserve, but you will also be contributing to that movement towards equality - a win-win!

As your wedding celebrant I will work with you to create a ceremony which tells your unique love story however you want it to be told - you can be as creative and imaginative as you like as there are no religious or civic restrictions limiting your dreams - it's your wedding, your way!
I will be with you every step of the journey to advise, guide, support, create, drink a little fizz with... I will be (almost) as obsessed with your wedding as you are, to make sure that I deliver the amazing ceremony that you both want.
Whether you are having a huge wedding in a glitzy venue, an elopement on a cliff-top, or a vow renewal in your own back garden, it would be my pleasure and privilege to tell your story.
